Welcome

Adolescent Support Home Services (ASHS) is a semi-independent supported living provider for young people, including unaccompanied asylum seeking children (UASC), between the ages of 16-18. We are based in Bristol.

ASHS was established in 2020 and aims to provide a fresh, modern and reliable service accompanied by excellent professional tailored support. We feel passionately that every young person deserves nothing less than the opportunity to achieve their own potential and understand that some young people require a more robust or unique approach in order to do so.

We specialise in providing low-number shared placements in fully furnished, comfortable and well presented homes, and believe that every young person is entitled to live in a safe and nurturing environment which they can call home.

The African proverb "it takes a village to raise a child" is one that encapsulates our beliefs here at ASHS and we are acutely aware of our societal responsibility when it comes to providing unwavering support to our young people.

Working in Partnership

It is our desire to work collaboratively with our partners in local authorities and charitable organisations and we aim to be open and transparent in our approach to our work at all times.

We fully appreciate the difficult decisions placing authorities sometimes need to make when considering accommodating a vulnerable young person in a 16+ placement, and the feelings of apprehension this can evoke.

ASHS was founded by a seasoned practitioner with a wealth of experience within the children and young people sector, and in working directly with young people. We have seen support and services which have been outstanding, and some which have not been so good. Whether the government chooses to regulate or license the unregulated sector in the future or not, we intend to operate our homes as though the sector was already regulated and are delighted to be able to offer the young people who use our service uncompromising standards of support.

Accordingly, quality assurance reports are completed on a quarterly basis by a suitably qualified independent person and sent to all placing authorities as standard practice. We will also obtain a risk assessment prior to any placement commencing and balance this against the needs of any young person already in placement. Commissioning authorities will also be notified when there is a new young person entering our service and sharing the home.

We understand 'young people in supported accommodation' are still 'young people' despite their prior experiences, and as such are entitled to quality and unwavering support.
